Motherhood has... taught us, stretched us, broken us, and built us. As we celebrate Mother's Day, we asked the women of Aussie Team Tulsa to reflect on how motherhood has shaped their lives—personally and professionally. Whether they are in the thick of raising littles, parenting teenagers, or dreaming of motherhood in the future, their stories echo the strength, vulnerability, and resilience that define this journey.

From learning to slow down and embrace the chaos to redefining success, creating chosen families, and pushing through hard days with grace, each of these heartfelt reflections highlights a unique, beautiful side of motherhood. It’s our hope that as you read, you’ll see a little bit of your own journey—and feel encouraged, seen, and celebrated.

“Motherhood has…”

Motherhood has grieved me in that either of my kids had the pregnancy announcement or birth story that we dream about. Both were surprises, both births were scary with complications and full term babies going into the NICU and both scared the crap out of me. Motherhood has humbled me in that I learned the hard way that I could not do everything myself. It broke me and some of my really unhealthy pressure habits and then covid pushed us over a cliff and made sure that that version of me didn't survive. We are all happier, calmer and better for it.

Motherhood has strengthened me in that it made really clear really fast what was the most important and made making hard decisions easy. When you know what really matters - your family and kids you make decisions with them at  the heart of all your choices. Foregoing some fantasies and understanding that it doesn't mean never it just means not right now. Motherhood has given me a new perspective on success by allowing me to celebrate them and their accomplishments. There is no greater joy. To my Artist and my budding engineer you are my greatest accomplishment.”

Motherhood has reminded me to slow down in as many ways as possible. It has put the concept of time in a whole new light for me. I try my best to say ‘yes’ whenever I hear “mommy can you read to me” or “mommy can we play”. Everything in the world is always saying 'rush rush rush, be better, quicker, more efficient'. These aren't bad things but motherhood asks and demands something different from us.  It forces you to look at the here and now - to realize there is so much good and peace in slowing down and enjoying the simple, messy, joyous and chaotic life that is motherhood.”

Transaction Coordinator

Motherhood has taught me to create my own village and accept help. We all need support but not everyone is blessed with close or supportive family and it's up to us to allow those in who want to help and give back in return. I could not imagine a more amazing CHOSEN family to raise my children with. Motherhood has changed my perspective on giving grace to others and giving the benefit of the doubt more than I ever could. Everyone is just genuinely trying their best and motherhood truly showcases that more than any experience I've had. Motherhood has strengthened me in knowing I can genuinely do anything. I can work through the hardships. I can push through the hard days and still know it's worth it. I've never been challenged as much as I have with being a working mom and at the end of each day, I'm proud my daughters are able to see how I provide for our family, support our community and know I will support them in any of their endeavors.”

Motherhood has taught me to embrace the unpredictable with grace. As a realtor, wife, and mom to two very different yet incredible kids - Samar(10), my sweet, persistent, and affectionate little soul, and Moe(6) my bold, creative, and out-of-the-box thinker - I’ve learned that no two days, clients, or parenting moments are ever the same. Motherhood has taught me to pause, listen more intentionally, and find beauty in calm moments and chaotic ones. It’s a journey that constantly reminds me how strong, flexible, and loving we truly are - even on the hardest days.”

“Motherhood has been the greatest lesson in “the days are long but the years are short.” It is profound and unexplainable to be in the sweetest yet hardest season of life. As a mother I am constantly focused on raising my babies the best I can, relearning myself as a human and a mom, and nurturing ever changing relationships while successfully maintaining a career, a home, and everything else. We wear so many hats and have so many wheels turning at all times in motherhood that it is so easy to get caught up. Be present and enjoy what is in front of you because that is the whole point anyway. After-all, the days are long but the years are short.

Motherhood has taught me the most about perseverance. The steadfast commitment required during tough times has built my resilience. Being a working mom has helped me cultivate patience and appreciate small victories, prompting me to focus on the positives around me. With this shift in perspective, I now recognize all the blessings in my life, especially being a mother. Raising three teenagers in today's world is challenging. I've had to learn how to overcome obstacles and reach my goals to set an example for my kids. It's important to teach them that making mistakes is part of life and that adapting in crucial moments highlights the value of perseverance. It all begins with me, and motherhood has been the greatest teacher in my life for these lessons. I am truly grateful for this gift!”

Motherhood excites me. As my husband and I look to the future, we look forward to the day that we might start a family! Until then, I recognize that I have been gifted with expansive love from mothers all around me! I have had a unique range of mother figures in my life, motherhood to me, goes beyond blood relations. Through my sisters, aunts, in-laws, mentors, co-workers, and spiritual mothers– I have been mothered into the woman I am today! Motherhood is always around me and it has been one of the most precious gifts!”
